With all that is happening in present-day society—the news constantly pushing its propaganda, the entertainment industry defiling countless souls, the church blaspheming more than ever before, and the zeal for God dying in many of us—there remains a clear pattern.
Worldly Curiosity Versus Spiritual Blindness
Very many people show genuine interest and curiosity about worldly matters, whether political discussions, celebrity gossip, or strange scientific innovations. They become consumed by these things and stay constantly alert for anything new that emerges from these areas. They are highly intelligent and well-informed about such issues. Yet these same people, despite their deep understanding and analysis of concepts, fail to discern the times—some intentionally, others unknowingly.
Strange forces of darkness are taking a strong hold of various sectors, regions, and even countries. Still, many continue to play dumb. They repeatedly spark debates over whether God exists, or claim that spirituality and demons are not real. Many go to great lengths to support these ideas and gather enough “proof” to sidestep Christian beliefs. They ask: If God is real, why doesn’t He make Himself visible?
Some of these conspiracy theories have already shaken many believers, and unfortunately there have been cases where people ended up losing their faith in Christ. Although Christ warned of such times beforehand, those who belong to Him must watch out for such people.
Jesus’ Warning About the Signs of the Times
Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, it will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, it will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.(Matthew 16:1-4 NKJV)
That is exactly what is happening right now. Many people know the direction in which the tide of darkness is blowing, yet they have chosen to turn a blind eye. Deep inside they hunger for the truth—the gospel of Christ—but when it comes, they scoff at it. It is deeply discomforting and offensive to their ears because it exposes their own behavior. People have fallen in love with the world and know full well how harmful this is, yet they still refuse to let go. They know where the truth lies, but they are so deeply entangled in lies that breaking free feels like suicide. In their desperation they pollute the truth and deter even those who genuinely wish to know it from seeing it clearly—free from the conspiracies and doubts they throw at it.
Faith Built on More Than Signs
This is why Jesus warned that for such a wicked and adulterous generation, no sign will be given except the sign of Jonah. The faith of Christ, which has been perverted by religion, is not based on signs and wonders alone. It is built on faith, truth, and love. All signs and wonders eventually fade, but love remains. This is the true root of faith. However, because the love of truth has been abandoned by many due to selfish ambitions and the worries of this world, the very people who should proclaim the truth are the ones polluting it. The Leaven of the Pharisees Today
The Pharisees of today—modern pastors, church elders, priests, and those bearing similar titles—are often the very people stealing tithes, manipulating their followers, and causing moral failure among those under their care. If the threshold of God’s presence itself has been polluted, how much more lost are those outside it?
This is why Christ strictly warned His disciples in Matthew 16:5-12 (NKJV):
Now when His disciples had come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. Then Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.” But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took up? How is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread?—but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Christ urges His followers to remain vigilant and watch out for such men. Like yeast, they multiply their corrupting influence over everything under their control. Who knows how far they can go?
A Generation Blocking the Way
This is why we have so many non-believers who, after seeing the actions of those called “men of God,” decide never to believe in Christ. Even more vulnerable are those young in the faith. The result is a generation that yearns to be filled and is tired of the emptiness of worldly things, yet remains caught in the middle because it does not know whom to trust. We see many who play dumb about the times even though they are fully aware of them—whether from pride, personal fears, past experiences, or other reasons. They know the gate to life, yet not only refuse to enter it themselves but also block others from passing through. This is how wicked this generation has become.I wonder—are you one of these people?
