Why should I praise the Lord even?

Why should I praise God, even?

Why should we keep on praising God everyday?

I sometimes also wonder why, of all things, God—having given us everything—asked only one thing: praise and worship.

He is our Father, and we being His children, that is somewhat reasonable. For what reward can you give to your father that is more than what He gave you? Life. He gave us all there is in this world: life.

The greatest and most valuable thing you can ever have. With what can you recompense Him, in your thinking, that can equate to this free gift He gave you? Apart from dedicating that very life to Him?

Even though your life may not seem to be going well or things are not going as planned, you still have a reason to worship and praise the Lord. Life.

If you can breathe, eat, and drink, what more reason do you need to praise the Lord? The three things above may seem basic, but you can’t survive for more than three minutes on this planet if just the first one is taken away! How much more the other two. Some of us think we only need to praise God when our life is going well or when we receive miracles, but is that so? Isn’t mere breathing a miracle? Do you know that people are in hospitals paying thousands just to be put on oxygen masks? How many end up dying or worsening because they can’t afford this treatment when the need arises?

So, should you wait for only big miracles before you praise God, or should you worship Him only when you are in problems and need a quick fix?

Isn’t the fact that you are still alive despite the challenges you are going through right now still a miracle (when there are hundreds who have collapsed or even committed suicide while in your circumstances)? We praise the Lord not only because He has given life but because He is good, He is a righteous judge, a protector, a guide, a Father to the fatherless, a partner to divorcees, a husband to the widow, a friend to the lonely, etc.

You may not be seeing a lot going on in your life, but the fact that you are still alive and can eat and drink freely is not only a marvellous miracle but more reason to praise the Lord who has kept you together while the world is burning down elsewhere!
