What Do You Trust In?

What do you trust in?

what do you really trust in?

Is it money, beauty, juju, your mother or rich uncle? No matter how wicked the world has become, at least some of us still have something we know we can rely on — something that will be there for us even in our lowest moments.

Some think the rich trust in their wealth. Others may say, “Indeed, I trust only my parents.” But the real question is: What do you trust in?

As I read through David’s psalms, I realised he triumphed in almost all wars throughout his 40-year reign. Yes—he never truly lost a single war.

What was his secret? What did such a great man rely on? What did he trust in that enabled him to fight and reign for all those years with a continuous streak of victories until the day he died?

Yet, did he really win every war effortlessly? The way He continually cried out to God about his enemies reveals how difficult the battles were. Let me share an excerpt from Psalms 59:1-4 NKJV:

He was truly one of the greatest kings Israel ever had. However, he had to fight hard to raise the kingdom to the heights it reached during his reign.

This makes me wonder: What do great successful people-the rich, local politicians, people in positions of power —trust in, what is their secret?

We are all human, so the only reason they rise above others is because they have done something different or rely on some greater power or influence.

And you — what do you trust in? Is it your wife, more money, or your connections? What can you truly count on when everything else has deserted you?

What did David trust in that gave him such authority that no neighbouring nation dared question him again?

He made a powerful declaration in Psalms 60:9-11 NKJV:

Reading the whole chapter reveals the context—a time of desolation and judgment. Yet in that dark moment, David came to a powerful realization: no help from man could save him. Not even his own strength as king. He remembered that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and His mercies endure forever. Even in despair, David always turned back to the mighty hand of his Father.

He concludes with bold confidence in verse 12:

Yes —through God you shall do valiantly, and He shall tread down whatever stands before you. David’s enemies trusted in horses and military might, but David turned to the Lord in the face of war. Not to his stones (that once defeated Goliath), not to money, resources, connections, or influence.

A similar great miracle is seen in, Judges 7—the story of Gideon and his 300 Israelites who won a war by simply praising God, without raising a single sword.

There is no limit to what God can do when you put your trust in Him. Beyond miracles and power is how deep He loves you. He will do anything you ask, provided it aligns in His will.
